hello, since win98 ive never used the start menu, even now in win7 i use the handy classicshell program to redo the start menu, so everythings sorted into only 7 folders based on program type (ie one for INTERNET, one for MULTIMEDIA, one for GAMING, etc) and none in the start menu under PROGRAMS.
since win98 and the 100s of programs ive never seen a program before that will keep re-creating its link in the START MENU > PROGRAMS folder, until epic. i would like to stop this function.
the oddest part is as far as privacy, having a program not in the start menu is one handy way to obtain privacy on the physical system (as opposed to online security), yet epic is the first program to keep reinstalling it as if im installing epic every time i just use it.
thanks for all the great work and efforts, and please consider having it act like other programs of any type; dont re-install the link every time i open epic, so that i can have privacy and a clean startmenu,
take care, gg in fla

Thanks for this & the good details!!! We didn't change this behaviour actually -- does chrome or chromium do the same thing?
We'll check into this and solve it but as you have any other details let us know.

I have an idea. I think it may be that we're deleting a preference on Epic close and some system settings and that sends Epic back to the defaults (which may be pinned, in the menu, etc.) -- strange as we haven't been able to reproduce some of the behaviour reported. We're checking into this!!

I also deal with this issue and would like it to stop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled from the current program links on your site.

Sorry we haven't updated this thread -- to solve this issue at present (epic icon re-creation, re-pinning to the task bar) you have to uninstall Epic (there's an option at the bottom of the Epic menu), then reinstall a new version of Epic from epicbrowser.com. The latest Epic solves the problem.
It sounds like you did this -- did it solve the problem?
