Epics sluggish when enabling Proxy

Today my Epic browser s-lo-w-e-d to a crawl. It resumes full speed when I click OFF the Proxy icon.  When Proxy mode is selected, pages load extremely slowly or not at all....status bar shows " Sending request " but nothing happens.

I really want to continue using Proxy mode. What's up with this ?

Hi Can you run a small command from terminal.  I'm assuming your Epic is in Applications folder. Then run the following command
/Applications/Epic.app/Contents/MacOS/Epic --extensions-update-frequency=45
